Cincinnati Bengals Blow Smoke While ESPN Blows Tim Tebow

Like a pound of high grade skunk smuggled past the vigilant guard dogs at an airport by being crazy glued to the taint of a 400 lbs midget, it is time for POINTLESS PONDERING.

Does anyone besides me make the huge mistake of turning on ESPN while an actual sporting event is not being broadcast? Not that crap the network pretends is a sport, like poker or competitive eating, but a sport where a participant actually breaks a sweat from physical activity while not sitting on their fat asses?

I did.

Turning on the boob tube one day, I saw ESPN oozing out a gabfest called "First Take." The shrow sprinkles a few active and retired athletes around three women who are the main characters of this pretend talk show. The most dramatic queen of the three is a geriatric know-nothing named Skip Bayless.

Bayless, who probably couldn't tell you who George Halas was even though he was born ahead of Papa Bear, has the memory of a fruit fly and thinks that everything at this moment is the 'greatest of all-time.' This pole smoker is known throughout ESPN as the former sports journalist who tries to get attention by besmirching athletes like Lebron James.

ESPN has been in mourning since Brett Favre retired finally a few months ago. Missing scrolling his name in huge letters constantly across the viewers screen, they still mention the Hyckocrite several times a day even if Favre is no longer part of the sports landscape and was last seen being accused of molesting women younger than his own children.

They knew they had a replacement lined up. A guy who, compared to Favre, is akin to being near beer versus real beer. Yet, like Favre, his concocted image far outweighs his actual abilities or talents. In others words : all hype and no substance. Just like EPSN itself.

Bayless and his fellow paparazzi have spent the 2011 NFL season drooling and batin' to Tim Tebow's picturesque image. Tebow, who is a third-string quarterback who even has a former first-round draft pick bust named Brady Quinn ahead of him on the depth chart, has become a polarizing figure thanks to the constant attention he receives from stalkers who pose as sports media members.

Tebow is not even close to being a NFL quarterback in most experts eyes, but do not tell that to Bayless. The old fruit spends every possible moment he can calling Tebow the best player the Denver Broncos have, because Bayless is a typical NFL puppet who believes the game revolves around the universe of this one position on the gridiron.

Ever since ESPN took over the Monday Night Football duties, they have tried to rival the NFL's own network in soft coverage they try to pawn off as news to viewers, carefully trying not to besmirch the monster entity. They earned this by constant on-air fellatio on the likes of Favre and other questionable characters with personal lives just as shady as the Hyckocrite's is.

A few weeks ago, Denver was losing agame on Monday Night Football. Broncos starting quarterback Kyle Orton played admirably, despite having terrible blocking and a shoddy rushing attack that produced a paltry 25 yards from his running backs against one of the worst run defenses in the league.

While Orton threw for over 300 yards in a game Denver would lose by a field goal, ESPN spent their times using the cameras to scan the stands for any idiot wearing a Tebow jersey or holding a sign professing their love for a player who has yet to do anything worth noting on a professional football field. The same "Christian" fans who would later piss away $10 grand on a billboard showing support for Tebow instead of doing something for society... like feeding homeless children.

Skippy has twisted his manpon since this moment, as well as showing the world once again he knows absoloutely nothing about football. Bayless has basically called Orton a loser while proclaiming Tebow to be the next Favre. He continued his tirade even after Orton led Denver to a win after getting help from an effective rushing attack last Sunday.

It doesn't really seem it will matter if Tebow is a career reserve or a future Hall of Famer to ESPN, because the network has found their new deity to stand along Favre on the ESPN pedestal. They will continue to feed their sheep while dropping his and the Hyckocrite's name at every turn possible, while viewers are forced to watch people like Bayless drools incessantly at perverted dreams that will never come true.

Breaking news! A Cincinnati Bengals player is in trouble with the law. No...wait! Make that two Bengals. As Led Zeppelin once said, "The Song Remains The Same."

Some franchises are forever snakebitten by bad karma, it seems. The ghosts of men Paul Brown, who founded the team, screwed over seem to be drowning this team in ignorance and forgettable obscurity. Somewhere upstairs, the ghosts of Mac Speedie and others are probably smiling in content as yet another Bengals player embarrasses himself, his family and teammates.

Whether the player is a moron like Adam "Pac Man" Jones paralyzing a person for life after making it 'rain money' at a strip club, or a deceased player like Chris Henry for having continual alcohol issues while alive, the Bengals franchise has had their players arrested over 32 times since 2000. It is easily this highest number amongst NFL teams, and this issue is a huge reason the team has gone 73-104 since 2000.

Brown, a legendary Hall of Fame coach who won seven championships in his 17 years with the Cleveland Browns, founded the Bengals in 1968. Though he coached in Cincinnati for just eight years, he got the franchise off to a fast start by helping them to a 55-56-1 record. He then ran the team from his offices from 1976 to 1991, when he died of complications from pneumonia.

The Bengals reached the playoffs three times with Brown as their head coach, then four more times with him as the general manager. This includes the only two Super Bowl appearances in franchise history, where Brown's teams lost both times to the San Francisco 49ers. The team has reached the playoffs just twice since Brown passed away.

It is ironic the team lost both Super Bowls to the 49ers Hall of Fame head coach Bill Walsh. Walsh is another person who was once screwed over by Brown after having been a Bengals assistant coach from 1968 to 1975. He was promised the Bengals head coaching job for years, but offensive line coach Bill "Tiger" Johnson was chosen instead.

Johnson resigned five games into the 1978 season while Walsh became the San Francisco head coach in 1979 and won three Super Bowls in his nine seasons on the Niners sidelines. Brown was accused of almost preventing Walsh of even getting the head coaching job in San Francisco once by Walsh himself.

Walsh claimed that Brown "worked against my candidacy" to be a head coach anywhere in the league. "All the way through I had opportunities, and I never knew about them," Walsh said. "And then when I left him, he called whoever he thought was necessary to keep me out of the NFL."

It is reminiscent of Brown's issues with Speedie, a Pro Bowl wide receiver during the Browns championship years. When Speedie wanted a raise in pay, he was rebuffed by Brown. He then bolted to the Canadian Football League for a bigger paycheck.

Years later, Speedie became a coach and scout in the American Football League. The Bengals joined the AFL initially, so the two men once met on the gridiron before a contest. When Speedie extended his hand as a greeting, Brown turned his back on him after telling Speedie, "Yes, I know. You're the one who went to Canada."

Speedie went to his grave believing Brown's influence prevented his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There are other frustrating examples of how Paul Brown infuriated people along his career, but time constraints will inhibit this endeavor.

His son Mike hasn't done any better since taking over the team, as the Bengals have gone 113-181 under his regime. He is known for his frugality and much as he is for overseeing squads that frequently have members ending up arrested.

Brown has frustrated people himself, as recently seen by quarterback Carson Palmer's refusal to play for the team and walking away from millions of dollars after Brown turned down his request to be traded to another team.

Now current players Jerome Simpson and Anthony Collins are in trouble after being arresting in a drug sting where over five pounds of marijuana was taken from Simpson's home after undercover agents delivered about two pounds of the drug to the wide receivers home.

Simpson, who is leading the Bengals in receptions this year, has been viewed a disappointment as a player since being drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft by the team. Before 2011, he had appeared in just 11 games and had 21 receptions in his career. Collins, drafted two rounds behind Simpson in 2008, has started has started 16 of 34 career games as an offensive tackle.

Both of their NFL careers are in jeopardy right now, a conundrum the league offices are used to dealing with when it comes to Bengals players. It may seem to be business as usual for this team, but the act has to have worn thin for the NFL long ago. Perhaps the only way out of these constant messes for the Bengals is to hold an exorcism in an attempt to finally bring this team good karma

Yoooooooooooo! Dis iz 7thStone once again! I is 3rdStone's cuzin, four doze of yous who fourgot me. I do predikshuns of da NFL four him becuz I iz a ex-bookie.

Yo! I iz 21-11 overall now after goin 11-5 las weak. Not two shabby, not to strong. Capeesh?

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Carolina Panthers

I know Cam Newton has a lot of passin yards, but yoooooooo! Da Panthers dont run da ball no mo! WTF iz dey paying DeAngelo Williams all dat cash and givin him da ball on just 22 times so far? Jonathan Stewart, who ran for 1,133 yards in 2009, has only 23. Newton leads da teem in rushing attempts and yards, besides bein da only Panther to run four a score dis seasun.

I don't care how good Newton iz, dat is STUPID Yo! Dis teem kneads two run too win! For all dat passin, dey iz still only 18th in scoring in da NFL so far. Da D is 26th in points allowed.

Dey should move up dis week facin a Jags teem dat has one player, Maurice Jones-Drew, who can actually do sumfin with da football. Jack Del Rio's gamble on cuttin David Garrard has looked dumb so far because his replacemint sucked donkey balls. Capeesh?

Now Jacksonville is starting there rookie quarterback, but dis guy cant do any badder den da scrub dat was their las weak. Still, dey is goin to feed MJD da ball like 30 times or more. Dat will bee da key hear.

Jaguars 23 Panthers 21

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings

Da Donovan McNabb Era haz gone so good dat Vikings fans iz calling four rookie Christian Ponder. Dis teen cant score and dey iz ranked 31st in da league in passing.

Detroit iz doin just what we all tought dey iz doin. Yo! Dis teem iz four reel. Capeesh? Watch dem and sea what I meen.

Lions 34 Vikings 20

San Francisco 49ers @ Cincinnati Bengals

Yo! Not only did da Bungles top receiver get busted with sum good smoke by da Feds da other day, da teem just found out top running back Cedric Benson iz being suspended three games. Guess Benson can go finish out his jail time now after his apeel iz reduces his sentence or gets rejected next Tuesday.

Da Niners blew a win las week, but dat iz cuz Alex Smith is just a crap QB. Dis piece of crap is going to be benched wifin three weeks, mark my words. But da 49ers iz pissed enough over las weak to win dis one.

49ers 24 Bengals 19

Miami Dolphins @ Cleveland Browns

OK, da Browns iz not as good as I tought dey would be. Dey iz young, so I still feal dey will bee good by da end of da yeer. Miami iz da better teem hear, espeshully after finding a good running back in Daniel Thomas las weak.

Dolphins 27 Browns 24

New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills

Everyone iz happy da Bills is 2-0. But da dreem stops hear. A reality check is cummin. Capeesh?

Patriots 37 Bills 27

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles

I saw dis stat dat Mike Vick completed 43% of his passes against da Giants blitz las yeer. Now da dog killer is hurtin in his chicken neck.

Still, da Jints secondary sucks ass and Eli Manning just has had reality's scrotum teabagging his girly ass so far. Dis boob says he in a elite QB, but do elite quarterbacks lead a 27th ranked scoring offense wif a 80 QB rating? Dat ratin goes down more against dem three Pro Bowl cornerbacks Philly has.

Eagles 30 Giants 21

Denver Broncos @ Tennessee Titans

Da Titans shocked da NFL in weak 2 by beatin da Ravens HANDILY with no running game to speek of. Chris Johnson looks like a guy who didn't do training camp with his 77 yards on 33 carries.

But dat defense is da story Yo! Ranked fouth in da league in points allowed, it iz hard to pass on dem. Dey already have alreddy forced 8 turnovers.

Denver kneads to run da ball hear. Dey cant rely on just chuckin passes, so mebbe Tim Teblow will run a few option plays since dat iz about allhe iz good four.

Titans 20 Broncos 10

Houston Texans @ New Orleans Saints

Since 1950, only 11 running backs have run for over 100 yards in their first 11 games. This list includes Hall of Famers Earl Campbell and Marshall Faulk. Another guy is dis list iz Ben Tate of da Texans. Look four him do get his third easily against a terruble Saints run defense.

Drew Brees will be testin out Wade Phillips revamped Houston defense. They rank first in both points and yards allowed so far. Dis will bee da difference as dat explosive Texans offense wears down a mediocre Saints defense.

Texans 38 Saints 27

New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders

Watchin da Raiders blow dat win against Buffalo las weak was ugly yo. While dey can score points, dey cant stop opponents from scoring. Da Raider have scored and given up 58 points, not a formula four success.

Da Jets dont let opponents score. Oaklands rushing attack is there best strength, while da Jets run defense is dat squads best strength. Plus New York kneads to stay pace wif da Pats yo.

Jets 34 Raiders 20

Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers

Da Chiefs are goin so bad, head coach Todd Haley will bee luckin two win five games dis yeer. All there best players are getting hurt so bad, dey iz out all seesun. Da Chargers offense iz just two powerfull.

Chargers 42 Chiefs 14

Baltimore Ravens @ Saint Louis Rams

Da Ravens got embarrassed last weak after embarrasin da Steelers da weak before. Saint Louis iz goin to attack dat suspect Ravens secondary dat iz ranked 28th in passing yards alloud. With deep threat Lee Evans out dis weak, Baltimore will knead to rely on da run game and young tight ends.

Sam Bradford won't have Danny Amendola two throw too, so Mike Sims-Walker will knead two bee big. Even if star halfback Steven Jackson plays this weekend, he may be best served is the passing attack since Baltimore is stout against the run.

Ravens 24 Rams 21

Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Game of the Week

This could be a helluva battle! Da Bucs rediscovered the run game las weak, witch will helps against a mediocre Falcons defense that is 28th in points alloued and 27th in yards alloud. Tampa Bay cannot leen on da pass game as much as dey have da furst too weaks.

Matt Ryan has been incunsistunt so far, but he did help Atlanta cum back in a thrillin win las weak. Pro Bowl halfback Michael "Burner" Turner has been da Falcons biggest star this yeer, which is not a good deel for a Buccaneers defensedisappointedly ranked 31st in run defense and 28th in total yards alloud.

Da best run game should win dis, witch iz why I iz goin wif Atlanta.

Falcons 23 Buccaneers 17

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears

Da Bears have played no teem more den dey have da Pack. Though they are 91-83-6 against Green Bay, da teems have met just twice in postseesun. Da last time was in da 2010 NFC Championship Game, where da Packers prevailed 21-14. In da three games dey played las yeer, every contest was decided by a one score difference.

Da 2011 Bears season iz lookin a lot like 2010, where da defense is carrying a erratic offense. The Bears offense kneads two step up dis weak cuz da Pack has da worst padd defense in da NFL after givin up 800 yards in da air alreddy.

But da Packers got weapons galore on offense. Plus dey take care of da football by not turnin it over. The secondary is da weekness of da Chicago defense, so I expect Aaron Rodgers to pick them apart when he kneads it mostest.

Packers 23 Bears 21

Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks

Yo! Snoozeville! Capeesh? Let's leeve it at Larry Fitzgerald has a big day.

Cardinals 30 Seahawks 20

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts

OK, Kerry Collins iz alreddy banged up and hasn't even been in da Colts system for to months. Dis iz not a good sign when facing a angry Steelers teem still seething for having there butts kicked two weaks ago.

Steelers 34 Colts 10

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys

OK, dis rivalry is like all NFL rivalrees today. Watered down by free agency, so dey have A LOT less meening to da players these daze. But Dallas is banged up good and da undefeeted Redskins iz healthy.

If dat moron Kyle Shanahan does almost blow it again wif his crappy play calling, like how the jackass forgot da run game in da second half of las weaks win after Tim Hightower had dominated da furst half, den Washington should get there 39th win in 101 games versus da Cowboys thanks too dat solid defense.

Redskins 27 Cowboys 24

Tim Tebow Replaces Brett Favre As Media's NFL Deity

Becoming the poster child for the current version of the "All-American Boy" almost never happened for the big kid with the goofy smile and "Aw shucks" attitude. His mom was ill while pregnant with him and doctors urged her to abort a child that could be stillborn.

Ignoring medical advice, she carried out a pregnancy that gave the media someone to talk about at every turn on the hype highway. Tim Tebow has more reasons for them to like him besides cheating death before even being born.

Home-schooled by a family with Christian beliefs, Tebow soon incurred some controversy as a home-schooled student when he played football for a nearby high school. Though he started out playing linebacker and tight end, he soon became Florida's Player of the Year twice and his legend began to grow by playing a game on a broken leg.

ESPN began following him at this time and even did a show featuring Tebow and labeled him "The Chosen One". A top recruit, he decided to attend the University of Florida.

The media kept following him, this time in greater numbers. Not only did they have Tebow confess he was a virgin, they printed and recorded the question and answer that had nothing to do with football. The purpose of the question was to add to the mystique that was often found on an ESPN broadcast somewhere seemingly daily.

All of this publicity came despite the fact he was a backup, something that would come about again in five years. Tebow played as a freshman, and even played a key role in helping the Gators win the 2006 National Championship.

He started from his sophomore year on and became the first home-schooled athlete to win the Heisman Trophy Award. Tebow was also the first underclassman ever to win the award.

Though he was never able to tie Archie Griffin's record of winning the Heisman twice, he did lead Florida to another championship in 2008 and won the Maxwell Award twice. Many media members would be so bold to call Tebow the greatest college football player ever.

Yet critics would say that he would never have success as a quarterback in the NFL. Tebow ran the position kind of like a mix of a throw-back player and fullback in college, opting to run over defenders and toss jump passes more often than any other contemporary quarterback.

The Denver Broncos did not care to listen to the critics. They traded up in the 2009 Draft to use the 25th overall selection to grab Tebow. While many in the media had been wondering incessantly throughout the draft why Tebow hadn't been drafted yet, critics expected him to keep falling to possibly even the third round.

Now a Bronco, the cameras keep a few feet away constantly recording every Tebow move. The most popular reserve in the NFL, his jersey was a hot-selling item that set records. It had been the top-selling jersey every month since he was drafted for many months.

While spotted in six games in the beginning of his career, the Broncos lost their starting quarterback and were forced to start Tebow for three games. He became the first quarterback in NFL history to run for a touchdown in each of his first three career starts.

While his passing numbers were far from gaudy, they were certainly better than the critics expected. The 82.1 quarterback rating he had as a rookie was impressive for a kid no one thought would ever be an effective professional quarterback.

Now in his second season, the hype highway has intensified with more bodies and pressure in the way. His name is mentioned constantly on television and the Internet is strewn with tons of articles discussing if this is the year Tebow begins his career as a starter.

The problem is that last years starter, Kyle Ortin, has outperformed Tebow in camp by a pretty wide margin. Tebow's fans will say practice is unimportant, that the play on the field during a game matters most.

In the Broncos first 2011 preseason game, Orton was not sharp in his few plays. Tebow was sharp with one incompletion against backup defenders on the Dallas Cowboys. Still, Tebow's head coach John Fox called the youngster a work in progress who made a few bad reads.

With his unconventional release and style of play, Tebow is a unique player. Some think his style best works as a spot player. One reporter compared Tebow to 1984 Heisman winner Doug Flutie.

Flutie, about eight inches shorter than Tebow, lasted 11 rounds before being drafted. After a season in the United States Football League, Flutie joined the NFL as the USFL folded.

He soon found himself on the field playing, but the results were not as hoped. Flutie then bolted for the Canadian Football League and became a star. He played in the CFL for eight years and won three titles. He was also named the CFL's Most Outstanding Player six times.

Flutie then returned to the NFL in 1998 and became a Pro Bowler. He played to the age of 43 and became the first NFL player in 65 years to convert a successful drop kick.

While a trip to the CFL is an unlikely route for Tebow, it may take some time before the Broncos are ready to let him lead the team. But his teammates will tell you Tebow displays a an obvious burning desire to win.

With his religious beliefs, humble attitude, and desire to fulfill his childhood dream to becoming a great NFL quarterback, the media has bought in full force. There have been stories of him quoted as saying his Broncos starting job was “grabbed back away” when Orton was not traded recently.

But the negative press rolls off his back like water on a duck, leaving him unscathed. Well
insulated with a huge fanbase, the loyalty of the press will stay persistent no matter how much of Tebow's 2011 season is spent on the bench.

It appears Tebow can do no wrong to a group of writers, which reminds some of Brett Favre. Favre, who retired last year after 20 years as a player, still gets brought up in stories for a possible return this year.

While Favre won one Super Bowl and set several records as a player, he also left the game with the most fumbles, times sacked, and interceptions thrown in an era of football where the NFL constantly bent the rule in a quarterbacks favor to ensure success.

Tebow hasn't thrown a teammate under the bus yet for holding out while being the highest paid player in team history like Favre did. Nor are there any reports of purported sexual harassment either.

Yet there are similarities that extend beyond the fact both men play quarterback. Favre also lived under the media microscope and was trumpeted as the greatest player ever innumerous times.

Favre could do no wrong himself, even if reports of wrong doing were running rampant. He was given a pass at every turn and ESPN dropped his name seemingly every ten minutes on all broadcasts for many years.

With him now away from the game, the mantle has been filled by the kid who has had a media shadow since he was 17-years old. Tebow handles the things well, but has also lamented the constant process of being interviewed repeatedly and practically daily.

He will be only 24-years old soon, but the target is set firmly on his back. Opponents have stated they will try to hit Tebow with all of their abilities. That pressure alone would buckle most, let alone the constant attention he receives from a large group of reporters following him.

While appearing bashful at being given the throne Favre reigned for so many years, Tebow appears to understand the perks that go with it. Whether all of this hype gets him on the field with a successful career remains to be seen, but the media will make sure we witness every second of it.

Brett Favre's End Has Arrived : Why The Minnesota Vikings Must Bench The Ineffective Quarterback

Things are so muddled in Minnesota right now, they can't even spell Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kevin Williams last name correctly on the back of his jersey. Making Leslie Frazier the head coach is about the only thing the Vikings have done right thus far, though it would behoove them to lift the interim tag off and extend his contract because Frazier is one of the first assistants in the league in line for a head coaching job.

The confusion started before the season began, with Brett Favre sitting in his house once again waffling between playing and retiring. It held the Vikings hostage to his whims, something Favre had done several times while employed with the Packers to the point he wore out his welcome.

After several Vikings went to his house to plead a return to an aging team with perhaps one last gasp left at Super Bowl aspirations, Favre agreed and had head coach Brad Childress chauffeur him from the airport to training camp when it was almost time to begin the regular season.

Since then, Farve has resembled many athletes before him washed up yet trying to extend their careers one season longer than he should have. After 17 interceptions and six fumbles in 10 games by the greatest turnover machine in NFL history, Childress was fired because of just three wins and constant bickering with his quarterback over not running the plays that were called.

While most all of Favre's media buddies have tried to feign surprise at his poor play, some have giving up on spit shining the faux alter they helped create by calling for the benching of the turnover king. Now Frazier, a defensive specialist and former Pro Bowl cornerback, has to fix the offense by removing the cause of his team illness.

While Tavaris Jackson, a second round pick by Childress in 2006, was asked to play too soon, he has won more starts than he has lost and has spent a lot of time on the bench learning since 2008. Now is the time to see if he will start next year and beyond, or if the Vikings should use a draft pick hoping to find a starting quarterback.

Favre is done. Before he would blame his errors on incompetency around him or injuries plaguing him. The excuses have worn out their welcome, and his presence will soon follow. In fact, he already has had a few media buddies write stories on how he may retire before the season ends. Minnesota is going nowhere this year, so Favre has to make it all about him, in an attempt to grab headlines, once more before the season is over.

Frazier's first act needs to be the promotion of Jackson, while demoting Favre to third string status the rest of the season and making him inactive in each of the final six games. This would allow the Vikings to get a better gauge on rookie Joe Webb. Webb is an extremely athletic player some viewed as a wide receiver prospect coming out of the 2010 draft, yet Minnesota decided to see what he could do at quarterback.

Benching Brett Favre is not sacrilegious, it is evolution. The game goes on, something he will not do in the NFL after this season. Deciding whether or not Jackson and Webb will be the guys handing the ball to Adrian Peterson 300 times a year is a much more important question to answer for the good of the franchise. Worrying about the feelings of a self-centered egomaniac is counter productive, and that is why Childress will sit at home until 2013 getting paid by the Vikings for nothing in return.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Giants

Both teams are 6-4 right now, but miles apart in certain areas. Jacksonville has an erratic passing game and porous defense, but they have the excellent Maurice Jones-Drew toting the rock for them.

The Giants Ahmad Bradshaw is having a very comparable season, but has a tendency to fumble. New York needs to hang onto the ball and get better quarterback play. If they do, they should control this game.

Giants 34 Jaguars 20

Carolina Panthers @ Cleveland Browns

Both teams are playing with third string quarterbacks and reserve running backs. It's just the Browns bench has been on the field longer and have played well. Carolina seems intent on getting the first pick of the 2011 draft.

Browns 23 Panthers 10

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills

Even if Ben Roethlisberger flops into a fetal position, they should win this in the fourth quarter. Buffalo has the ability to expose Pittsburgh's secondary, the weakness of the defense, but they have been so inconsistent this season.

Steelers 34 Bills 23

Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins

The Redskins long, strange trip in 2010 continues. They somehow pulled out a win last week over Tennessee in overtime despite losing a plethora of players to injuries. It was reminiscent of their win over Green Bay earlier in the season, as far as a bunch of players going down for a long time from injuries.

Washington will hope their third string running back holds up, because there isn't much behind Keiland Williams. Washington is so thin at running back, they are making undrafted rookie linebacker Darrel Young tote the ball at times.

Redskins leading receiver Santana Moss could miss the game, so Joey Galloway may play. He just turned 39-years old last week. Tight ends Chris Cooley and Fred Davis may have to carry the passing attack.

Minnesota has their own old man with 41-year old quarterback Brett Favre. Though he and Galloway never teamed up, their combined 80 years has to be the oldest duo to play on a NFL field this season.

Though the Vikings season is over as far as playoff dreams, they still can play for pride under their newly hired head coach Leslie Frazier. The Redskins really struggle at stopping the run at times, so expect Minnesota halfback Adrian Peterson to carry the ball often.

Washington allows four more points per game than they score, while Minnesota allows five more than they score. The difference here could be who holds onto the ball. The Vikings are dead last in the Takeaway/ Giveaway Differential category ant minus-13, while Washington's plus-six is eighth best in the NFL.

Redskins 30 Vikings 28

Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans

Houston has one of the worst defenses in the NFL this season, but the run defense is their strength. It is ranked 16th in the league, but it will have to play a lot better this Sunday.

The Titans are playing some rookie quarterback named Rusty Smith, so the plan will be to feed halfback Chris Johnson the ball as often as possible. Tennessee doesn't have a defense much better than Houston, so Arian Foster has the ability to run for as many yards as Johnson.

The offensive balance of the Texans should make the difference, but their defense is bad enough to make Smith a star.

Texans 31 Titans 16

Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons
Game of the Week

Both teams need to win here badly, and both have been on a roll lately. Atlanta needs to the win to maintain their division lead, and they have won their last four games. Green Bay, who has also won their last four, needs to win to stay on top of their division.

The Packers defense gives up the least amount of points in the NFL, and both teams score an average of 25 points per game. Featuring two young quarterbacks with similar statistics, the difference is that Atlanta has the better running attack.

Turnovers might be the key here, because both defenses are very opportunistic. Atlanta has the second best Giveaway/ Takeaway Differential in the NFL and plus-10, while Packers rank fifth at plus-8. Expect the Atlanta crowd to be louder than usual.

Falcons 27 Packers 24

Miami Dolphins @ Oakland Raiders

Both of these teams mirror each other. Their backup quarterbacks start, even though neither team possesses a very good passing attack. Neither defense can stop the run well, though the pass defense is excellent for both.

Oakland can run the ball, while the Miami veteran backfield has been average at best. If the Raiders halfback Darren McFadden goes off, especially since he did next to nothing last Sunday, Oakland should keep their playoff dreams alive.

Raiders 28 Dolphins 13

Kansas City Chiefs @ Seattle Seahawks

This is a battle of the two teams leading the Western Division in both conferences. They are also two teams very few predicted would lead their division at any time in 2010, let alone in the 11th games of their schedules.

Kansas City loves to run the ball and control the clock, while having the best attack in the league right now. Seattle has been winning despite having the 29th ranked offense and 28th ranked defense.

While both have made nice stories so far, all good things must come to an end eventually.

Chiefs 24 Seahawks 17

Saint Louis Rams @ Denver Broncos

While the Rams still dream of winning their division, Denver might want to start preparing for the 2011 draft. While Denver has the better quarterback, Saint Louis has the edge on defense and rushing attack.

Playing in the thin air of Mile High Stadium always takes a team out each year, and the young Rams are the next victims to fall in the fourth because they cant catch their breath.

Broncos 27 Rams 23

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Baltimore Ravens

A battle of 7-3 teams with a lot riding on this game. While Baltimore needs to win to at least maintain a hold on first place in their division, Tampa Bay winning would place them in a tie that could be for first place if Atlanta loses.

While most every NFL fan expected the Ravens to be here right now in 2010, very few saw the Buccaneers winning more than a handful of games. Tampa Bay has a ball control offense that doesn't turn over the ball much, yet they have a good pass defense that has helped them have the sixth best Takeaway/ Giveaway Differential in the league now.

While the Ravens offense hasn't been consistent yet, the defense has been stellar. The return of free safety Ed Reed has helped them more than words can describe. In four games this year, he has four interceptions, four passes defended, and created a score by pitching one of his interceptions to Dawan Landry for the final 23 yards to the end zone.

If quarterback Joe Flacco can be consistent on third down, something he has not done much this season, Baltimore should win with halfback Ray Rice leading the way against a mediocre Buccaneers run defense.

Ravens 26 Buccaneers 17

Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears

Bears defensive end Julius Peppers has quietly had a nice season where Chicago has asked him to wear many hats. Perhaps the hat he wears Sunday will have instructions to shadow Eagles quarterback Michael Vick at times.

Vick has been on a roll which has helped Philadelphia win their last three games, something Chicago has also accomplished. The Eagles rarely cough up the football, but often take it away from opponents with the top ranked Takeaway/ Giveaway Differential in the NFL at plus-15.

Though the Bears allow a league best 14.6 points per game average, they only score 19 a game. The Eagles put up over 28 per game, so the Bears defense has even more stress and responsibility. A loss, coupled by a Green Bay win, will drop them into second place.

Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler needs to show why the team gave up so much to get him. The Eagles give up points, and their pass defense can be exploited. If he is on his game, the Bears can win.

Eagles 23 Bears 18

San Diego Chargers @ Indianapolis Colts

The NFL fan sees two quarterbacks, heading towards being nominated to represent the AFC in the Pro Bowl, having great seasons that could bring a pile of points Sunday, though both teams are missing several parts on the attack because of injuries.

The Chargers are capable of throwing up a lot of points on a weak Colts defense, and the San Diego defense could allow the Colts to score just as many points. The Bolts rank first in total defense and passing defense, while ranking third in run defense. Their problem is they do not create enough turnovers and have given the ball away 22 times.

They both have scored and allowed almost exactly the same totals in points. The difference here could be the running game. Though neither team has impressed the league in that area this year, San Diego holds the edge.

If the turnovers are held to a minimum, San Diego's resurgence in their quest to try to win the AFC West for the seventh time in eight years continues.

Chargers 38 Colts 30

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

Derek Anderson's time as a starting quarterback in the NFL appears to be winding down, while it is dubious that any 49er quarterback on the team this season will stay for next year.

Both teams defenses have underachieved most of this season, so the running game might decide this snooze-fest.

NFL Week 8 Shows Teams Need To Put Old Yeller Out Of His Misery

Many NFL fans are tired of saying "He's back!" Then there are others who wished he was never asked to return. Then there are the Hickocritons who don't care what he does, just so long as he returns.

Brett Farve is trying to tell his media buddies he will try to play Sunday so his team can win. With an ego so out of control, he fails to see he is the biggest reason they are 2-4 with his 15 turnovers.

With the highest interception rate of his career, coupled by the lowest yards per attempts average and passing yards per game of his career, Favre resembles the punch-drunk heavyweight who got in the ring one too many times.

While time eventually forgets those missteps, his may linger because of other issues that show he is more than the crying boy playing for his dead dad. He is now the dirty old man touching himself to a girl old enough to be his child while wearing Crocs instead of slippers.

ESPN tried to exclaim Farve took part of practice, while only showing footage of an old man by a locker trying to put weight on his injured ankle. Vikings head coach Brad Childress, obviously tired of watching a self absorbent egomaniac throw away games while playing outside of the the system, has publicly said the team needs a quarterback who values possession of the football.

If Childress does the right thing and benches Farve, the media blitz is on from the quarterbacks buddies. If he says nothing, he loses respect in the locker room. While people point to the streak, trying to compare it to Jim Marshall or Cal Ripken Jr., it should be noted Marshall and Ripken were not causing their teams to lose for the sake of their streaks, and still contributed heavily towards victories.

Childress only has himself to blame. He asked for a return and even picked him up at the airport. Perhaps his only avenue is to let the Hickocrite play, lose the game, and possibly get damaged so bad in the ankle that he is forced to retire. The Vikings win in that scenario.

Albert Haynesworth came out this week saying ''I'm not good enough to play the 3-4 defense. 'I would like to start and start playing like I used to ... but right now I'm fine with it ( coming off the bench in the nickel package)."

Haynesworth may have been trying to be facetious, considering he just came off a game where he had his first sack this season and came up big on a goal line play, but the message of pity was the recurring theme he has spouted since Mike Shanahan was hired as the Redskins head coach and announcing plans to switch to a base 3-4 defense.

He doesn't seem concerned whether or not he will be with Washington past this season either. ''I don't know. I have no clue. Right now, if I just keep playing, I'm going to be somewhere. Keep playing and help the teammates, and make plays and I guess get noticed more,'' Haynesworth pondered, ''so people will say I'm not a bust or whatever.''

Guess he is so self involved and so deeply sequestered from society that he fails to realize people have been calling him a bust most of his Redskins career.

Week six of the 2010 NFL season can also be called "The Day The Game Died", thanks to commissioner Roger Goodell listening to a bunch of whiny media yenta's instead of thinking of the good of the game itself.

They went on a media blitz, and Goodell looked like a wide-eyed rookie. He proceeded to throw an interception that cost the game its game. A commissioner, who hasn't played organized football since his teens, showed his insight of the game by sending a message even clean, hard hits will be fined.

He fined one player who made a clean and legal hit. The player led with his shoulder, blowing up a 165-lbs player to the point the whiplash effect caused a concussion.

The NFL has made its bones, as well as billions of dollars, on violent hits. It is a part of the game that is clearly unavoidable, no matter how the league tries. Every position but running back has gone through major rule changes. The quarterback now plays practically in a prom dress surrounded by a booth of safety, a step away from flag football.

Week six is when the entire offense became the coddled quarterback, as the defense last semblance of manhood was lopped off, thus completing the castration of the NFL.

This week he tried to top himself by holding a first ever conference of every NFL referee. He wasn't just talking about the plethora of bad calls that are as ingrained into the gridiron as the player themselves. He continued his lip service about hard tackles.

Instead of taking an intelligent path of calling out coaches of kids who are too busy scrounging for pennies instead of teaching fundamentals, Goodell thinks he can get to the root of an issue by starting at the very top of the food chain.

Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs

The winless Bill proved that they still were an NFL team last week by taking the Baltimore Ravens to the wire in their 37-34 loss last Sunday.

Buffalo's problem is they are good against the pass, but are the worst against the run defensively. The Chiefs stink at throwing the ball, but are the top team in the NFL at running it.

Buffalo might try to pound halfback Fred Jackson often, but attacking the Chiefs 25th ranked pass defense is the best way to go with them. They have a good shot at getting a win this week, but betting on the Bills to be consistent is a huge gamble.

Bills 27 Chiefs 24

Denver Broncos @ San Francisco 49ers

If you said the Chiefs/ Bills game would be a better game before the season started, go buy a lottery ticket fast.

The Niners have one win, the Broncos have two. Besides Denver quarterback Kyle Orton, neither team does anything particularly great on either side of the ball. San Francisco has recently shown some signs of getting halfback Frank Gore going, and they will have to lean on him heavy with a third-string quarterback playing.

The NFL is trying to get global, playing this game overseas, but it it hard to imagine this battle of mediocrity will inspire much of a following.

Broncos 31 49ers 23

Carolina Panthers @ Saint Louis Rams

Here is a look at two teams going in opposite directions a lot faster than expected. The Rams already have three wins, a total many did not expect over the entire season from them in training camp. Carolina has just one.

Matt Moore is back as the Panthers quarterback, and he had a few nice moments last week. With halfback DeAngelo Williams dinged up and questionable, he will need to step up again.

The Rams underrated defense is improving weekly, and they can get a big load of help from running back Steven Jackson pounding the ball frequently against the Panthers 24th ranked rush defense.

Rams 21 Panthers 10

Washington Redskins @ Detroit Lions

The 4-3 Redskins are just a few plays away from being undefeated and winless. They have been so impressive that gamblers are betting on the 1-5 Lions this week. Not just because they beat Washington last week either.

As Detroit returns from their bye week, Washington heads into theirs. Detroit has the seventh ranked pass attack, but that was from the arm of Shawn Hill. Hill came on early in the season to replace the injured starter Matthew Stafford. Now Hill is hurt and Stafford is ready to go against the Redskins 31st ranked pass defense.

While Washington statistically has the second worst defense in the NFL, they get real tough once teams approach the end zone. Detroit also has no power backs to rely on, as they prefer to hand it to scatback Jahvid Best. Best has had a productive season, but has had nagging injuries to the point even Lions head coach Jim Schwartz conceded that full health is not likely to return all year for the rookie.

The Lions defense is nothing special either, but rookie Ndamukong Suh could present a beat up Donovan McNabb issues all day behind his sub par offensive line. If he gets time, McNabb could carve up Detroit's secondary when not handing the ball of to Ryan Torain. Torain is seeking his third straight week of over 100 yards rushing.

Redskins 30 Lions 28

Green Bay Packers @ New York Jets

It has been a questionable move by the Pack not to supplement their running backs corps after Ryan Grant went down for the year early on, especially after watching Marshawn Lynch get had for very little in return.

The glare of Grant's absence will glow brightest this game, because the Packers will need to pass often to win. They are missing their best tight end and their leading receiver is beat up. Donald Driver is so hurt, he failed to catch a pass for the first time in almost nine full seasons, 139 games, last week.

The Jets are coming off a bye week, so guys are getting healthy again. Derrelle Revis is one of them, and he should be blanketing Greg Jennings all game. New York also has the second best rushing attack in the NFL, not good news for a 23rd ranked Green Bay run defense so beat up that they had offensive lineman T.J. Lang helping out last week.

Jets 26 Packers 17

Miami Dolphins @ Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati is a mess. Last week typified their 2010 season. Getting blown out 24-3 at halftime against the Atlanta Falcons, they went into the fourth quarter leading 25-24. Atlanta then put up 15 straight points before the Bengals added a late cosmetic score in their 39-32 loss.

That has been the problem, looking good cosmetically with no substance. But that was expected after pairing up Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco, who are exactly what the Bengals are. A galaxy away from the 2009 team that went 10-6.

Miami should look to kick start their running game against a under-performing Bengals defense.

Dolphins 28 Bengals 20

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Dallas Cowboys

This is a game no one cares about, and that includes the players that will take the field. While Jaguars quarterback David Garrard returns from injury, John Kitna makes his first start in place of the injured Tony Romo in this battle of two teams going nowhere worthwhile in 2010.

Cowboys 18 Jaguars 17

Tennessee Titans @ San Diego Chargers

Only a Norv Turner-coached team can be first in offense and defense with a 2-5 record. Bolts quarterback Philip Rivers gets Vincent Jackson back from his holdout, but it is hard to imagine Jackson giving his full effort. Jackson is probably looking to get out healthy in 2010 so he can join a new team next year.

Vince Young returns to the Titans after missing over a game from a knee injury. Wide receiver Kenny Britt has gotten hot recently, taking a little pressure off bell cow Chris Johnson.

This game should go to the wire.

Titans 34 Chargers 31

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Arizona Cardinals

Tampa Bay's head coach Raheem Morris says his team is the best in the NFC. Now is the time to prove it.

Buccaneers 21 Cardinals 17

Minnesota Vikings @ New England Patriots

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady once said he wants to play until he gets past 40-years old. Perhaps watching Brett Favre crash and burn this year will have him rethink that plan.

Vikings halfback Adrian Peterson should get the ball a lot, but maybe more in the pass than he has before. The Pats have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, but they could get good fast against a Vikings passer who already has 10 interceptions.

Randy Moss returns to New England, where he played over three years, wearing a Vikings jersey he wore six seasons previously. He will want the ball. The only question is if Minnesota has someone who can get it to him.

Patriots 37 Vikings 31

Seattle Seahawks @ Oakland Raiders

It is fitting these two face off on Halloween, because they truly are Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Oakland went crazy last week, scoring at will, after a season of battling to get points. Seattle is leading their division, putting new head coach Pete Carroll in serious consideration for an award. One week they are stomping the 49ers, Chargers, or Bears, the next they are getting destroyed by the Rams.

Oakland did beat Seattle 27-24 in preseason, for whatever that's worth.

Raiders 27 Seahawks 17

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New Orleans Saints

The Saints are looking for that wondrous offense that won them a Super Bowl last year. It is doubtful they will finally find it courtesy of the Steelers, perhaps boasting the best defense in all of football.

While New Orleans has been excellent defending the pass this season, their 16th ranked run defense will be tested by Steelers halfback Rashard Mendenhall. If the Saints can't run well, this could be over fast.

When Pittsburgh won Super Bowl XLIII in 2008, they failed to make the playoffs the following year. The 4-3 Saints are dangerously flirting with that territory this year.

Steelers 23 Saints 20

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts
Game of the Week

Houston showed they could beat the Colts in the first week of this season. It helped that halfback Arian Foster ran for 231 yards and three touchdowns, but the Colts are horrible defending the run and rank 26th in the league. It is possible Foster matches those career best totals once again this Monday.

Duane Brown is the Texans best offensive lineman, and the left tackle will have his hands full with pass rusher Dwight Freeney. Houston did lose their best linebacker in DeMeco Ryans in the middle of their defense for the year, and they now hope 2009 Defensive Rookie of the Year Brian Cushing can play the spot.

Indianapolis always seems to lose a key pass catcher every year and not miss a step. All-Pro tight end Dallas Clark is gone for the year, and red zone specialist Austin Collie is also out.

Future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning has already said this game is important to his Colts. They have lost both games in their division so far, thus making him realize how catastrophic a third defeat could be in this battle of 4-2 squads.

NFL's 10 Best Running Backs In The Game Right Now, Week 6 Pix, And Brett Favre's Texting Elbow

Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans

When the Titans made Johnson their first round draft selection in 2008, many fans only knew he was incredibly fast. Since then, they have discovered he is so much more after making the Pro Bowl in each of his two seasons.

He led the league with 2006 yards, 358 carries, 2,509 yards from scrimmage, 125.4 yards rushing per game, and a 91-yard run last year. It was shades of Earl Campbell, and people wondered what he could possibly do for an encore this year.

He leads the league with 113 carries, about the same pace as last year, and six rushing touchdowns. He also has 13 catches, on pace to surpass his career best of 50 set last season.

His 485 rushing yards ranks second in the NFL, and it is very possible the best running back in the game today is en route to his second consecutive rushing title.

Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings

AP is the only good thing to talk about when it comes to the Minnesota offense. Thanks to horrible quarterback play, the opposition knows this more and more each possession the Vikings have.

Peterson also no longer has the luxury of the excellent Chester Taylor backing him up anymore, so he has 13 receptions and is on pass to easily exceed his career best total of 43.

He also ranks third best in the league with 480 yards, averaging a very impressive 5.5 yards per carry.

He has been to the Pro Bowl in each of his previous three seasons, including leading the league in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage in 2008, but the start to this season may be his most impressive yet.

Arian Foster, Houston Texans

Though the undrafted Foster finished his rookie season strong, after having sat out much of it, few people knew who he was heading into this year.

All he has done is lead the league in rushing with 562 yards at almost six yards a carry. He has also caught 13 balls and scored five times.

This all has been done to the fact he has only carried the ball more than 19 times in a game once, and was shut down with 25 yards last Sunday and was forced to sit out much of the first half the week before.

Steven Jackson, Saint Louis Rams

In seven years, Jackson has gone to two Pro Bowls. Yet this may be his most impressive start yet. Though he has been healthy in just three of his five starts, the Ram still ranks tenth in the league in rushing and has 13 catches.

In his past, Jackson had quarterback Marc Bulger providing offensive balance the times Bulger was healthy enough to play. He came into this year with unproven Sam Bradford, the first overall 2010 draft pick, now at the helm.

Though Bradford has been exceptional at times, Jackson is the glue of the offense and the leader of the team. Without his tough yards, gained behind a young offensive line, things would be much tougher for the rebuilding Rams right now.

Rashard Mendenhall, Pittsburgh Steelers

After a rookie season that saw the 2008 first rounder get hurt for the year in his first start, Mendenhall ran for 1,108 yards in 12 starts in 2009.

This season has seen him get 406 yards in four games, good for seventh best in the NFL. What makes his yards more impressive is how he has got them.

Pittsburgh came into the year missing their star quarterback to suspension. The player they had slotted as a replacement was hurt in the last preseason game. Their third string quarterback was lost for the year in the second game.

Opposing defenses, already crowding the line of scrimmage knowing Pittsburgh would run much more than pass, came in closer with each injury. Mendenhall responded with a 4.6 yards per carry average.

The fact the 3-1 Steelers have been such a feel good story this year has more to do with just their top rated defense. Mendenhall has been the hero of their offense so far, and his carries should come easier now that the star quarterback has returned.

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

They lovingly call him Mo Drew in Jacksonville, and the 5'8" 205 lbs back has been a star there since being drafted in the second round in 2006.

Drew started carrying the team full-time last year, his first Pro Bowl season, and has continued that trend this year. His 406 yards rushing is tied for eighth best in the league, and he has caught ten balls too.

LaDainian Tomlinson, New York Jets

When Tomlinson joined the Jets this year, after nine years and five Pro Bowls in San Diego destined to be on display in Canton, most figured he was running on flat tires.

However, the 31-year old Tomlinson has already shown he has plenty of gas left in his tank. His 437 rushing yards ranks fifth and he has caught 12 balls.

His backfield mate, Shonn Greene, has four less carries, but has run for 280 yards. They have helped the Jets got 3-1 with the top-rated rushing attack this season.

Though it is uncertain the future Hall of Famer will continue to run for six yards a carry, Tomlinson has spent his whole career making believers out of his critics.

Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens

He is coming off his first Pro Bowl season in 2009, where he ran for over 1,300 yards and averaged an impressive nine yards on 78 receptions.

This season sees him ranked 13th in the NFL in rushing, and he has 15 catches too.

Built low to the ground at 5'9" 195, his combination of quickness, strength, and intelligence has quickly made him a fan favorite in just his third season in Charm City.

Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants

His carries, receptions, and yards have increased in each of his previous three years after the Jints grabbed him in the seventh round of the 2007 draft.

After having just one career start under his belt, he was named the starter this year and is easily on pace to shatter most all of his career high marks.

He has recently become the fourth-ranked rushing leader in the league, though he has matched his career high total of three fumbles already.

Brandon Jacobs, the starter the past few years for New York, has chipped in 172 more yards to give the team quite an effective duo.

Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons

After a career high 376 carries led the NFL in his 2008 Pro Bowl year, "Burner" Turner has dealt with nagging injuries. He missed five games last years, and parts of the five games so far this year.

On a pace to carry the ball 465 times this year, he is currently ranked sixth in the NFL with 421 yards. Not much of a pass catcher, he already has tied his career best mark of six.

Yet Turner has had help in a Falcons offense that loves to run the ball down their opponents throats. His backup, Jason Snelling, has run for 244 yards and caught 11 balls that is third best on the team.

The duo has helped lead Atlanta to the second best rushing attack in the league, which has helped the 5-1 Falcons take top spot in the NFC South.

Best of the Rest

LeSean McCoy came into this year knowing he was the cowbell of the Philadelphia Eagles. He is 12th in rushing and has already grabbed 28 passes. His five rushing scores is second best in the NFL.

His toughness is also incredible, as shown by his 92-yards rushing and five catches against a tough 49ers defense on cracked ribs.

Cedric Benson, of the Cincinnati Bengals, is tied for eighth in the league in rushing. He is the only consistent part of the Cincy offense.

Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles are a very effective duo for the Kansas City Chiefs. They have helped the surprising Chiefs have them tied with Atlanta with the second best rushing game in the league. The fact Kansas City has had no passing game make it an ever better accomplishment.

Darren McFadden has run for 392 yards in four games for the Oakland Raiders, 11th best in the NFL. He might be the best running back in the AFC West right now.

Matt Forte exploded for 166 yards and two scores last Sunday, after getting just 134 on 50 carries the previous four games. Yet he has also chipped in 18 catches and three scores, including a league longest 89 yard reception.

Peyton Hillis was seventh round steal for the Denver Broncos in 2008, but quickly was buried in their depth chart and let go after last year.

The Cleveland Browns luckily signed him, and he has carried the team with 350 yards, 20 receptions, and five total touchdowns. He gets most all his yards between the tackles with hard nosed running.

Week Six Pix
Last Week : 7-7
Current Record : 43-31

Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears

Seattle has made a lot of strides quickly under new head coach Pete Carroll. Their run defense is the second best in the league, which helps their 28th-ranked offense and keeps them in games.

The Bears seem to be somewhat following the "Steelers Method", introduced to us this season. They will be without the services of their star quarterback, and now have went from their second-string quarterback, Todd Collins, to their third in Caleb Hanie.

Granted, the Steelers juggled quarterbacks because of injury, but the ideology is similar. So is the fact both have strong run defenses, as the Bears is ranked third.

Though running back Matt Forte ran wild for the Bears last week, it may not happen again versus a strong run defense like the Seahawks. Hanie will need to make a few big plays Sunday.

Bears 13 Seahawks 9

Miami Dolphins @ Green Bay Packers

Green Bay is hurting right now. Literally.

They have put three players on the injured reserve this week, and may be missing at least five more players for this game. Not a good sign, as is the fact that they are amongst the most penalized teams in football.

Their strength, passing the ball, falls right into Miami's defensive strength. The Dolphins are ranked fourth best in the league, but 24th in points allowed. Miami also has one of the worst scoring offenses in the league, ranking 28th.

This game will come down to the trenches, who pushes the pile best. Green Bay's offensive tackles are banged up, and one may miss the game. Aaron Rodgers is coming back from a concussion sooner than expected as well.

The Packers defensive line is so banged up, they are playing third stringers in two spots. Clay Matthews III, their star linebacker, is a game-time decision as well.

Dolphins 27 Packers 24

Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texans

The Chiefs rely on running the ball, and theirs is the third best in the league. Houston, though they have a more balanced attack, have the fifth rated rushing attack.

The Texans also have the fifth best rushing defense in the NFL. Right behind them in sixth place is the Chiefs. Houston also has the worst pass defense in the NFL, and give up over 100 yards more per game than the 25th ranked Chiefs do.

While it may appear the best quarterback play may win this one, it very well could come down to special teams. Houston will probably be missing their top return specialist, Jacoby Jones, while the Chiefs boast exciting rookies Javier Arenas and Dexter McCluster.

Houston does not want to go into Indianapolis at .500 facing a Colts team looking for revenge from their opening day loss to the Texans.

Texans 23 Chiefs 14

Baltimore Ravens @ New England Patriots

Game of the Week

The Ravens have somehow just lost one game this season with a team that in minus six in the giveaway/ takeaway department. Having the third best defense certainly helps.

Baltimore general manager Ozzie Newsome has given quarterback Joe Flacco a lot of weapons this year. New England just traded one of their best offensive weapons in wide receiver Randy Moss, replacing him with Deion Branch. Branch has spent the past few years floundering in between injuries and little production, so he will probably come up huge for the Patriots this year even after taking a pay cut.

One player to watch is Patriots wide receiver Brandon Tate, who moves into Moss' slot. Already exciting as a return specialist, Tate will look to expand his role against the second best defense in the NFL.

Though people like to point out New England's pass defense is ranked 28th, the run defense is ranked 20th. Though Flacco has been erratic this year, this game should see the Ravens try to pound the ball down New England's throats often.

Ravens 27 Patriots 21

Detroit Lions @ New York Giants

Detroit has been making huge strides this year, and are a lot better than many realize. The Giants were supposedly were at odds with their coaches a few weeks ago and headed for disaster

Though the media loves to hype the Jets defense, it is actually the Giants defense that is the best in the NFL right now. The offense is the fifth best. This type of balance has put them back on the map as Super Bowl contenders, and the locker room rumors have died down.

Giants 38 Lions 24

Atlanta Falcons @ Philadelphia Eagles

Atlanta is on fire right now, and in first place in the NFC South. Matt Ryan is returning to his hometown of Philadelphia facing a defense that is small along their front seven and ranked 24th against the run.

The Falcons have the second best rushing attack in the NFL right now, so expect them to play to their strength to keep an explosive Eagles offense off the field as much as possible.

Falcons 26 Eagles 21

Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers

The only interesting thing about this game is to see how rusty Ben Roethlisberger is coming off his suspension. Cleveland has a quarterback making his first start this season too, but Colt McCoy is a rookie facing a team known for blitzing.

Cleveland may try to minimize McCoy's confusion by running Peyton Hillis 20-30 times, but Pittsburgh has easily the best run defense in the NFL and give up just 62 yards per game.

If Roethlisberger is sharp, things could get real ugly real fast.

Steelers 31 Browns 6

San Diego Chargers @ Saint Louis Rams

The Chargers have been a disappointment so far, going 2-3 thus far despite easily having the most productive offense in the league.

The Rams are improving, but will need to run the ball to win this week because the Bolts have the third best passing defense in the NFL.

If the Chargers lose this, they should fire head coach Norv Turner before the weekend is over.

Chargers 34 Rams 16

New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The defending champions are showing how hard it is to repeat by wallowing in mediocrity for the most part. They are in the middle of the pack in scoring on both sides of the ball, yet quarterback Drew Brees has done his part by leading them to the fifth best passing attack.

The Buccaneers have surprised people with a 3-1 record. They have done it despite not doing anything in particular that stands out. The offense is 21st in scoring, while the defense is ranked 18th.

Tampa Bay head coach Raheem Morris has to be proud of his team, who have three very winnable games in the approaching four weeks after this game.

Saints 27 Buccaneers 17

New York Jets @ Denver Broncos

Kyle Orton is putting up better statistics than Peyton Manning, leading Denver to the fourth best offense in the league and second best passing game. The running game, however, is ranked last.

The defense has also played poorly, which is why the Broncos sit at an erratic 2-3 record. Orton is the only real consistent the team has had all year thus far.

This is not a good formula to face a hot Jets team that believes in themselves because their coach has done a wonderful job so far. Expect the Jets to run the ball down the throats of the 25th ranked rush defense all day.

Jets 31 Broncos 20

Oakland Raiders @ San Francisco 49ers

The Battle at the Bay. These teams are neighbors but world apart. The Black Hole in Oakland is its own world, and the Niners have to be relieved they are at home for this.

Oakland is 14th in offense this year, thanks to the running of halfback Darren McFadden. San Francisco cannot seem to get their former Pro Bowl halfback Frank Gore going on the ground this year, and their offense is ranked 23rd. The Niners defense is 17th, while the Raiders is 23rd.

Besides geography, the teams share n the fact they are both struggling at the quarterback position. Oakland may go with Jason Campbell instead of the banged up Bruce Gradkowski. If the seventh ranked Oakland ground game can run over the 18th ranked Niners run defense, the quarterbacks play won't matter as much.

McFadden is a game-time decision, because he is battling a leg injury, but there is word the Raiders best offensive lineman, guard Robert Gallery, will play in his second game this year come Sunday.

Raiders 23 49ers 17

Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings

ESPN has about 45 reporters camped out in Brett Favre's living quarters vigilantly watching the status of Farve's elbow. There is no concrete proof they are helping him text, open jars, wipe, and other activities that may strain his elbow further.

It probably doesn't matter, because Farve seems to be past the end of the line as a player. A former champion fighting one bout too many. Dallas, with their 12th ranked defense, will concentrate mostly on stopping Adrian Peterson.

Peterson has quietly been great this year, too looked over a fact due to his team losing and the diva playing quarterback struggling. If he has a hard time getting going, Minnesota may be forced to gamble on Farve's elbow and the inevitable turnovers he brings to the table.

It has not been easy to run on the Vikings ever since they had the Williams' at defensive tackle, though they are ranked just 14th in that department right now. Their sixth ranked passing defense will get tested against the Cowboys third ranked passing attack and second ranked offense.

Before the season started, fans might have thought this encounter would determine who would lose their first game in 2011. In reality, both teams are struggling and fighting to keep their seasons pertinent.

One weakness the 1-3 Cowboys have shown this year is a lack of offensive balance. Quarterback Tony Romo whose 51 pass attempts in a loss a few weeks ago to Chicago was the second most attempts of his career, went before the media recently lamenting the lack of rushing attempts shortly after wards.

Romo, who threw 47 balls in their first week loss to Washington, career high of 55 attempts last year against the New York Giants was also met with a loss. He tossed 46 balls for a career best 406 yards in last weeks loss to the Tennessee Titans

The three-time Pro Bowler is at his best, as are the Cowboys, when there is better offensive balance. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett somehow hangs onto his job in spite of these facts.

Cowboys 34 Vikings 24

Indianapolis Colts @ Washington Redskins

Most fans see the Redskins last ranked defense, that is 30th in pass defense, and wonder how many yards Peyton Manning will put up against him. Considering the Colts running backs are banged up, so he may have an abundance of opportunities to find out.

Washington has beat top quarterbacks like Tony Romo and Aaron Rodgers so far this year, but facing Manning is an entirely different test. Manning will look to spread the ball all over Fed Ex Field on Sunday night.

Indianapolis, however. has a tiny defensive line that is ranked 29th against the run. The Redskins offensive line has struggled mightily this year, helping Washington have the 25th ranked rushing attack.

Washington is hurting as well along the offensive line. Trent Williams, their first round pick this year, has already missed two games due to a knee injury. The left tackle hurt the same knee again last week, which took him out the game, so he is questionable Sunday. Right tackle Jamal Brown and left guard Kory Lichtensteiger are also listed as questionable with knee injuries.

If that wasn't enough, their defense has linebacker Rocky McIntosh and safeties LaRon Landry, Kareem Moore, and Chris Horton listed as questionable, and no one has said for certain if nose tackle Albert Haynesworth will have returned from bereavement leave.

Donovan McNabb will try to carry the seventh ranked passing attack again, this time against the 13th ranked Colts pass defense. Yet the real key to Washington winning this game may rest on the shoulders of running back Ryan Torain.

Torain will be making his second career start, this time he will possibly be without the services of primary reserve Keiland Williams because of injury. If Washington can run the ball, it will slow down the pass rush of Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis. After watching McNabb get run down by Clay Matthews III last week, the prospects of having two guys of that ability is worrisome.

Colts 27 Redskins 17

Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The Titans offensive attack is simple : get the ball in the hands of running back Chris Johnson as much as possible. He is on pace to easily match the 358 carries he led the NFL with last year with 113 so far. Jacksonville's Maurice Jones-Drew is right behind him with 102 carries.

Both teams passing attacks are similar in that they have erratic but mobile quarterbacks, inconsistent wide receivers, and young tight ends playing well so far. Jeff Fisher and the Titans are riding Johnson as hard as the franchise once rode Earl Campbell over 30 years ago.

Considering Johnson is almost 40 pounds lighter than the "Tyler Rose" it would behoove Fisher and Vince Young to improve in other areas so Johnson has at least five Hall of Fame seasons like Campbell did.

Neither defense is special, so it may come down to which do-it-all running back does the most damage.

Brett Favre Mirrors Y.A. Tittle

Watching Brett Farve lead the 1-3 Minnesota Vikings to another loss, as he tossed 20 incompletions in 34 attempts and added to his NFL records of most interceptions and fumbles coughed up, one couldn't help but see Y.A. Tittle.

Farve has defied all the odds since the Atlanta Falcons drafted him in the second round way back in 1991. He moved on to the Green Bay Packers the next year, leading them to two Super Bowls and winning one over 16 seasons.

He has set too many records to count almost. Yes he played in an era where playing quarterback is nowhere nearly as difficult nor physically taxing as it once was, but he has done it better than anyone in his era so far.

Men like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are nipping on the heels of several of his records, but they both have a ways to go. A long ways in many instances.

It wasn't just the fact Farve won with a gun slinging mentality that earned him millions of fans, it was how he won in the face of mortality after family death and an ill mate. His 2009 season amazed many.

He made his 11th Pro Bowl at the age of 40, and statistically had the best year of his Hall of Fame career. The three-time NFL MVP seemed ageless, and drew respect of even those perturbed by his waffling of retiring and un-retiring with a diva mentality.

ESPN also brought a lot of that ire on him. It is no secret Favre is close with many on the network, but their on-air fellatio of their deity grew sickening as it has run on a 24-hour loop since 2007.

As he was flopping around in the first half on their loss Monday to the New York Jets, broadcast by ESPN, the announcers seemed contractually obligated to express adoration of Farve every 30 seconds.

At one point, it seemed each member of the broadcast booth wished he had sexually harassed him instead of three other women. Who knows what they are doing with the purported pictures of Favre's genitals.

Even after Farve lazily coughed up three fumbles via poor fundamentals, losing two, the announcers sickeningly sought excuses for him rather than be objective broadcast journalists.

The second half brought him success, as he almost got Minnesota back in the game courtesy of two touchdown passes. One was a lollipop pass to recently acquired Randy Moss that brought back memories of the time Tittle invented the alley-oop pass to R.C. Owens in the 1950's.

Yelberton Abraham Tittle was the first round draft pick of the Detroit Lions in 1948, the sixth overall selection. He opted to join the Baltimore Colts of the All-American Football Conference instead, and the team won just nine games in his three years there in a league dominated by the Cleveland Browns.

Tittle has led the league in passing attempts, completions, yards gained per completion and attempt, interception percentage, as well as interceptions, at least once in his time with the Colts, who were woefully undermanned.

He found himself with the San Francisco 49ers in 1950 after the Colts folded. He spent three years as a backup to Frankie Albert, a Pro Bowler who was the Chicago Bears first round pick in 1942, but had joined the Niners in 1946 after serving in World War Two.

Albert retired after a sub par 1952 season where Tittle started five times. Tittle's first year as started in 1953 saw the Niners lead the league by averaging a whopping 31 points per game. San Francisco finished second in their division during a time only division winners go to the postseason.

Though Tittle had weapons like Billy Wilson, Gordon Soltau, R.C. Owens, and the "Million Dollar Backfield" that consisted of Hall of Famers Joe "Jet" Perry, Hugh McElhenny, and John Henry Johnson, the Niners could never win it all.

A team that many consider the greatest ever to never win a title, they named Albert the head coach in 1956, and drafted quarterback John Brodie with the third overall pick in 1957.

That year saw the Niners make their first NFL postseason, but they lost to the eventual champion Detroit Lions in the fourth quarter 31-27.

Tittle's next three years saw him mostly injured, though he made the Pro Bowl in 1959, as Brodie became ready to take control of the team. San Francisco then traded the 35-year old Tittle to the New York Giants for Lou Cordileone, their first round draft choice in 1960, just before the 1961 season.

Tittle defied expert opinion by defying his age in an era where it was much more difficult to play quarterback in the NFL. He went to three straight Pro Bowls as the Giants lost five times total over the three seasons.

After leading the league in touchdown passes in 1962, he did it again the next year, as well as completion percentage, touchdown percentage, and yards gained per completion at 37-years old.

Then Father Time came calling and cashed in his chips in 1964. The Giants great teams had aged and were gone, so this team was full of youth and little talent. The few older players that remained were a shell of what they once were.

New York finished last in defense and second to last in offense. Tittle took a tremendous beating, winning just once in his nine starts. A famous picture was taken of him that year realizing it was all over for him and football.

Though Tittle never won a championship, despite leading the Giants to three of them, the seven-time Pro Bowler, who won the NFL MVP trophy twice, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971.

He still holds the record for seven touchdown passes in a game, and was the first of just eight quarterback in NFL history to have 30-touchdown passes in consecutive seasons. Farve is one of the other eight.

Tittle's 36 touchdown passes in 1963 was an NFL record until Hall of Famer Dan Marino broke it in 1984 under newer rules that made it easier to play quarterback in the NFL.

It still remains tied for ninth most ever, and the 37-year old Tittle is easily the oldest on the list. A 30-year old Tom Brady set the record in 2007 under even newer rules that have made it much, much easier to be an NFL quarterback.

Farve's 2010 season seems to be resembling Tittle's 1964 year somewhat. The Vikings are losing like the Giants did that year, and Farve has tossed seven interceptions in just four games. He threw that same amount in the entire 2007 season, a career low mark.

The one difference is surrounding talent. Farve has Pro Bowlers like Adrian Peterson, Randy Moss, Percy Harvin, Bryant McKinnie, and Steve Hutchinson helping him on offense. Tittle only had Hall of Famer Rosey Brown as a Pro Bowler, along with tight end Aaron Thomas make his only Pro Bowl in 1964.

Minnesota was, and perhaps still is, expected to be a team with Super Bowl ability this year, unlike the fact few expected much from the 1964 Giants. The season has a long way to go for the Vikings, but their start has to have everyone cheering for the organization concerned.

The hope is that Farve stops playing like he is 41 and washed up, rediscovering the fountain youth that led the Vikings to the NFC Championship last year. Hope that Father Time has not yet cashed in those eventual chips, that we all one day will see, yet again.

NFL Perverts : Castrating The Problem For The Sake Of Society

Unfortunately, the NFL has a seamy side.

Several of the same men the league tries to push as their images and heroes are creeps who stalk and harass women to try to fill their perversions.

Many have crossed the line legally, yet they escape justice and imprisonment because they happen to play a child's game for money.

Here are some disgusting cretins currently donning NFL jerseys looking for your applause:

Brett Favre

Yes "Favre Haters", the Hickocrite is back in the news.

Not for his poor play or the hopes of improvement with the addition of wide receiver Randy Moss alone.

You won't hear this story on ESPN, who worships the toilet Favre sits on.

In 2008, Favre exposed his saggy sac while stalking a sideline reporter who basically looks like his wife with silicone representing her breasts.

Of course no one investigated her claims years ago, because the Hickocrite was raking in too much cash by retiring, waffling, then un-retiring.

The old pervert can't get his media buddies to save him this time, because there are e-mails, voice messages, and pictures as damning proof.

Still, don't expect NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to do more than take a few pennies from Favre after reading a fake statement on how tough he is on crime.

The real money will be paid on the impending settlement to hush the victim.

Adam "Pac-Man" Jones

It is utterly amazing this creep is not in jail for paralyzing a man for life.

He did this by allegedly shooting the man in a club, something the club owner swears he did despite Jones' proclamations of innocence.

It shortly happened after he assaulted a woman.

A document showing he paid various people in the club $15,000 involved in the shooting has been theorized as a payoff for silence.

Shortly after this, he was heard talking on the phone to a recently arrested drug dealer, who was heard saying "We gotta slow down, man. We gotta get him focused on football, man."

The drug dealer also claimed Jones bet on college games to earn quick money.

"You know, I was talkin' to him (Jones) the other day about smokin', and he was like 'man, if I didn't smoke (drugs) I couldn't take all the stress that I'm dealing with right now,'" the drug dealer said in a phone call listened in on by law enforcement authorities.

Jones has also been arrested, charged or convicted of marijuana possession

Yet Goodell, who pretends to take a hard line on crime, let Jones back into the league to earn a paycheck after a year suspension.

Yet another example how Goodell is Badashell for the NFL.

Ben Roethlisberger

It took Goodell two incidents by Roethlisberger to step in.

Seems "Big Ben" couldn't stop inserting "Little Ben" into women against their will.

Goodell took such a hard line against the star quarterback that he threatened to suspend Roethlisberger a whole six games, then decided to reduce it to four.

Maybe he will get eight games reduced to five the next time Roethlisberger assaults a female?

Shannon Sharpe

Shannon Sharpe wears a different kind of NFL jersey these days.

The former tight end dons a coat and tie while broadcasting games on nationally televised games.

A few weeks ago, a woman claimed Sharpe stalked her, forced her to have sex with him, then threatened to kill her.

Sharpe took a leave from his network job, then suddenly the woman suddenly dropped charges and said she lied.

Interestingly, no false accusation charges have been filed against her, nor has Sharpe sued her for defamation of character.

Many have bandied about the theory that Sharpe paid her off for her silence.

Even if the accusations were true, it should have no impact on his impending induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Michael Irvin is proof of that.

Green Bay Packers

Two women accused seven Packers of sexual assault in June, 2010.

After initially claiming it was one player, both of their stories changed.

False accusations?

Eric Green

In 2009, former Arizona Cardinals cornerback Eric Green was accused of sexual assault by a trans-gender woman and sued for $10 million.

Green, now playing in the UFL, reportedly warned the victim that, “This never happened. You’d better not tell.”

Michael Vick

Long before he was arrested for training and betting on dogfighting, after authorities found the bodies of 66 dogs on his property, Vick was getting in other kinds of trouble.

In 1998, he was arrested for sexual assault.

Charges were later dropped.

Michael Irvin

Michael "I'm holding it for my brother" Irvin has spent as much time in jail and courts as he did on a football field.

The Hall of Famer now wears a Hall of Fame jacket as a jersey, and hosted a radio show for ESPN until canned for yet another legal transgression.

It was the second time in three years ESPN fired him for getting in trouble with the law, but that did not stop NFL Network from hiring him just over a month ago.

In 1996, he appeared in court wearing a full-length mink coat after being arrested for cocaine possession.

Two years later, he inflicted a two-inch cut on a teammates neck after an argument. Charges were never filed, but rumors were abound that Irvin gave the teammate a six-figure settlement not to press charges.

After he retired, he got a job on ESPN with teammate and fellow Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith. Irvin was arrested again shortly after for possession of a crack pipe and other paraphernalia. Charges were dropped after Irvin claimed he took the items from a friend in order to clean him up.

In 2007, he was accused of sexual assault. Though charges were never brought up, he is being taken to court by the victim. She is seeking $800,000 after claiming Irvin raped her.

Irvin has filed a countersuit for $100 million, even though the woman passed a polygraph test.

Why was this thug inducted into Canton again? He is the antithesis of a Hall of Famer.

Who Else?

There are countless other examples of football players to give, let alone professional athletes.

List your own if you want.

One thing is for certain.

There will be more instances ahead.

Too many athletes feel entitled because they get huge paychecks and face practically no punishment for their crimes against humanity.

It is time for Roger Goodell to stop talking tough and actually try to be tough.

Handing out suspensions for a few games has no impact on these millionaires.

Banning may be the best solution.
